How this came about.
Since the late 80's, I've been in to making and listening to computer generated music of all kinds. I started out listening to the industrial klangs of Kraftwerk and progressed to classical renditions by Isao Tomita. In the early 90's Orbital caught my attention as the progressive innovators of the time and from there was introduced to Aphex Twin, u-Ziq and Stereolab.
Now, I'm going back to my roots, exploring the realms of progressive and psychadelic rock, listening mostly to Frank Zappa and Gabriel-era Genesis.
With no formal training, I started out on an Atari ST with a sampling card - plugged in to a cheap Amstrad Studio 100, 4-track tape machine. I'd lay down unsequenced, manual tracks which would culminate in to sound montages rather than song-like structures. However it wasn't long until I came across a piece of software at computer club called Quartet.
This allowed me to put pre-created sample banks on to 4 sequenced staves. My method took ages but I was intrigued enough to be patient and battle it out for the reward of mad music!
Since then I've gone through various setups and collaborations, primarily using the Macintosh, I've used Cubase, Logic, Rebirth and now (for reasons of simplicity and not much studio space) I use Reason 2.5. I don't get much of a chance to do music these days but the stuff you see here for download are my latest offerings, a culmination of tracks spanning 7 years of on-off development since december 1999 to 2006. I don't take it too seriously, it's a hobby.
